True Tail: School of Heroes[1] is an unreleased indie-animated American television series produced by Skynamic Studios. It will be directed by Zachary Rich and Allison Sribnick.[2]

The pilot of True Tail is currently unknown.[1]

Development[]

True Tail was originally conceived as a story depicting a group of mercenary heroes: Caleb Truetail; Doh-Li; Viktor; Brutus; Melody; and Kanikus. However, when Skynamic Studios pitched this idea to Nickelodeon, the latter requested that Skynamic Studios tweak True Tail in order to make it slightly more kid-friendly.

Taking Nickelodeon's advice, the crew revamped True Tail, scrapping the "hero squad," and instead bringing a new "school theme" in to play. The characters remained the same as the original, but they were made into teenage students, rather than adults, and Brutus and Kanikus became professors.[3]

A new set of characters were also added in order to bulk up the school setting.[4]

In May of 2015, Skynamic Studios launched their pilot episode animatic via their YouTube channel. This would have been the first episode of True Tail, but the concept was never fully animated and was abandoned after True Tail was revamped.[5]

Release[]

The release of the pilot of True Tail: School of Heroes was previously set for May of 2018[6], then was pushed back to July of 2018. It was supposed to set for Spring of 2021 but then it got delayed.[1] It is currently unknown when the show will premiere.

Premise[]

"Our tale begins in the medieval fantasy world of Splitpaw, a land governed by magic, where the greatest profession a young child could dream of is becoming a hero. Yet, being a hero is fraught with danger and only the strong are worthy of the title. Thus, those youngsters who have a thirst for adventure and the skills to match, are permitted to be trained at the hallowed halls of True Tail Academy - a school for heroes-in-training.

And so our story centers around the adventures of Caleb, a young kitten, whose only dream is to become Splitpaw’s greatest hero! Little does he know that this desire is not just a dream, but it is his birthright. It will take him on a life-or-death adventure, that will test his bonds of friendship and family (but that’s a story for a different time)."[1]
